Connecting Everything. Anywhere
Inter Connect Point registered and incorporated in Rwanda since June 2017. We now also operate in Uganda and the UAE. We are a Carnegie Mellon University industry research spin-off company with focus on delivering innovative solutions leveraging the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT). We are a leading research and development provider of people and machine-to-machine (M2M) technologies in the MEA region. Our experience lies in Agri-Tech and Agri-Industry process automation, smart city solution design, and development, and project roll-outs.
We design, produce proprietary data analytics and automation software, and rollout various sensors, communication modules, gateways, gateway cards, monitoring, notification, evaluation & PoC Kits that are fully calibrated and require very little power with clear datasheets for details. The sensors we deploy are a product of Inter Connect Point LLC., its trademarks, and in part or full legal collaboration with world’s leading manufacturers of sensors.
In Africa, tea processing involves human sensory analysis to determine optimum production line levels to produce customer desired quality yet, there are limits to humans’ sensory precision and significant variability exists from person to person as well as day to day decision making. At present, experienced personnel are relied upon to individually determine when different tea processing stages should start or stop based on their trusted analysis and judgement. They physically monitor tea using the naked eye and nose along with basic hand-held devices. Attempts to use sensor technology have been explored largely at research level without industry implementation. These currently used processes remain subjected to errors of omission resulting from human insensitivity and variability due to individualistic differentiations and reduces revenues to tea processors.
We offer an integrated Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) hardware, software, and analytics package to increase the efficiency and quality of tea processing for the hundreds of tea factories throughout East Africa and the over 10 million farmers that supply these factories. Specifically, we are leveraging the Internet of Things (IoT) to improve quality, control, and revenues in the East African tea value-chain. With our “eNose” sensors and analytics, we can drive reliability of tea processing quality irrespective of weather, improve the quality of tea produced in factories around East Africa and beyond, and possibly even reverse engineer the perfect cup of tea. This innovation can also improve factory design, energy usage, reduce the carbon footprint from wood burning in the tea process. Our methodology could be expanded to improve reliability in other dynamic African agro- industries such as coffee and cocoa.
